About the census data

Download the National Catholic Census Project tables from this page.

These tables have been acquired from the Australian Bureau of Statistics, and the data they contain remains the property of the Commonwealth of Australia. Access is restricted to the Australian Catholic Bishops Conference and its agencies, to dioceses and to Catholic Education Offices and Commissions.

You can download tables from the 2001 Census and the 1996 Census.

Note: Tables are available in two formats: SuperTable (.srd) and comma-separated value (.csv). The information in both formats is identical. You only need to download the type you are going to use.

For quick and easy production of user-friendly tables, download the files in SuperTable format. (You will need the SuperTable program too. Download that here)

For statistical analysis using SPSS or database programs, download the files in .csv format.
